Once Human ends every scenario on a fixed clock, and the choice you make in its final weeks decides what your character keeps, what moves to Eternaland, and what you rebuild from scratch. Most of what players lose at a season reset isn't taken by the game; it's left in the wrong place when the server closes. Here's what carries over, what resets, and how to prepare so nothing you care about is still sitting in a chest on a server you're about to leave. The Once Human hub collects the rest of our coverage.

Know How a Scenario Ends Before You Plan Around It
Every scenario runs in phases that unlock new regions and difficulty as the server ages, then closes into a rest period. Lengths vary by scenario. Under the phase schedule Starry Studio published in March 2025, Manibus runs 68 days and The Way of Winter 63, both including a final 28-day phase. The new Isles of Abyss scenario, launching on October 21, 2026, uses a shorter core cycle of about 21 days: a first phase of five to ten days and a second of 11 days, followed by its rest stage, according to the studio's October 16, 2026 launch dev blog. The October 20 server notice expects its permanent server to open on November 18, 2026 (PT), before the first batch of servers closes. The October 16 dev blog had given November 12, so the date can still move.
The start of the rest period is your deadline, because the FAQ describes its free first exit for scenarios that haven't reached that period yet. Starry Studio's August 27, 2026 FAQ, written for the console launch, describes a 14-day rest period, after which the scenario server is merged into the permanent server for that scenario. The Isles of Abyss dev blog doesn't give the length of that scenario's rest stage. Plan backward from the day the rest period starts instead of discovering it after it has begun.
Decide Between Staying, Leaving, and Starting a New Scenario
You have three ways out, and they don't keep the same things.
- Stay and merge. Starry Studio's August 27, 2026 FAQ, written for the console launch, says your scenario server merges into its permanent server automatically after the rest period, and that content, events, and scenario pacing "will remain consistent with PC/mobile," though some features or events "may differ by platform." The studio's June 5, 2025 page on permanent servers, published before the console launch, also describes an automatic merge but names no platform, and covers four older scenarios after a settlement phase of about three to four weeks. The studio's August 13, 2024 dev blog, About Seasons and Scenarios, described a different rule: the server closed and characters returned to Eternaland.
- Leave for Eternaland, the persistent home base where your character waits between scenarios.
- Start a new scenario. Sign up from the scenario screen and your character goes through scenario settlement: the October 20, 2026 server notice says level and supplies restart while account-wide progress stays, but the October 16, 2026 dev blog says Isles of Abyss characters start at max level.
The sources don't confirm the automatic merge on PC, whether the FAQ's free exit to Eternaland once the scenario ends covers the rest period, or what exits after the first free one cost. Pick one deliberately, before the rest period starts. Staying suits a base you want to keep playing in. Starting fresh suits you if you want new content and accept its cost: Resource Inheritance Points for the items you bring back, building materials to rebuild your base, and possibly your level, depending on the two sources above. If your scenario has already reached the rest period, the FAQ says you can sign up and travel to a friend's server instead.
Know What Follows You Into a New Scenario
A lot more carries over than the word "reset" suggests. According to the FAQ, cosmetics, some character data, most currencies, blueprints, formulas, and design layouts are inherited directly when you move on. The October 2026 server notice confirms that Blueprint levels and Mod levels are not cleared at settlement, and Starry Studio's August 13, 2024 season dev blog lists important materials such as Starchroms, Crystgins, Mitsuko's Marks, and Silver Keys among the items you keep, along with house blueprints and furniture formulas.
What resets is the progress tied to the scenario itself: your character level and the supplies you were carrying, per the October 20 notice, and your Memetics, per the 2024 dev blog. That's why blueprint hunting and Mod upgrades are the safest long-term investment in the game. Materials and medicine you stockpile aren't lost, though. In its answer on what you keep when you move to a new scenario, the FAQ says materials and medicine "will be transferred to Eternaland," and that you "can spend Resource Inheritance Points to transfer out the items you need."

Move Gear and Deviations Through Eternaland
Eternaland is where your physical items go when you leave a scenario, and where your character can rest until you decide where to go next. The FAQ lists weapons, armor, materials, medicine, Deviations, and calibration blueprints as the items transferred there. Energy Links don't survive as Energy Links; they convert into Astral Sand at a set ratio.
Getting those items back into a new scenario costs Resource Inheritance Points, spent through the backpack when you bring items in, and each item has its own point cost. Don't plan on carrying your whole inventory forward. Decide before the transfer which weapons and Deviations you'll actually use in the next scenario, and spend your points on those first. Starry Studio's August 13, 2024 dev blog said Resource Points refresh each time you join a new scenario, so points left unspent didn't roll over into a bigger budget later; the 2026 FAQ doesn't repeat that rule.
Save Your House Blueprint Before You Leave
Your base itself doesn't travel to a new scenario, but its design does. House blueprints and furniture formulas carry over, according to Starry Studio's 2024 season dev blog, and you rebuild the house in the new scenario by spending building materials. Save the blueprint of the base you want to keep before you leave, and gather the materials for its core structures early in the next scenario instead of rebuilding from memory.
Keep the blueprint lean. A sprawling base costs a lot of materials to place again, while a compact one with your crafting benches and storage can be up within your first sessions, which matters more when a scenario like Isles of Abyss runs on a cycle of about three weeks.
Protect Your Base Before a Permanent Server Merge
Permanent servers of the same scenario are merged together over time, and Starry Studio's September 14, 2026 merge notice explains what happens to your territory then. It doesn't say the same rules apply when a scenario server first joins its permanent server. The notice says the system tries to keep territories at their original coordinates and neighbors in the same world, but overlapping coordinates can force some territories to be put away, with compensation sent by mail. You can then place your territory again with the relocation feature.
Facilities other players built inside your territory are refunded to them automatically, and anything you built in someone else's territory comes back to you when they log in. Claim your mail attachments before the merge update and keep space free in your mailbox, since the studio warns that older mail can be cleared when it fills up.

Coordinate With Your Hive Before You Sign Up
If you're moving to a new scenario with friends, agree on the server before anyone signs up. For Isles of Abyss, Starry Studio's server notice says squads formed on the team-up platform are guaranteed to land on the same server when the squad leader signs up.
Run a Last-Week Checklist Before the Rest Period Starts
In the last week before the rest period starts, work through the same short list. Spend materials you won't carry forward on blueprint and Mod upgrades, since those levels stay with your account. Choose your path, staying, leaving, or a new scenario, and tell your Hive which one. Claim every mail attachment and clear mailbox space. Pick the weapons and Deviations worth your Resource Inheritance Points.
